STRATEGIC PLANNING OVERVIEW
At its foundation, our strategic planning process helps organizations shape their future by addressing two essential questions: Where do we want to go? and How do we get there? To do this effectively, we engage governing bodies, staff, and key stakeholders throughout the process. As a result, the framework emphasizes shared vision, actionable strategies, and clear accountability.
AT IT’S CORE, THIS PROCESS BRINGS TOGETHER:
- First, a governing body—such as a city council, school board, or board of directors—sets the overall vision and prioritizes high-impact actions.
- In addition, staff members contribute valuable organizational insight and help implement the plan.
- Finally, key stakeholders provide diverse perspectives and ideas that strengthen decision-making.
THE PROCESS UNFOLDS IN FOUR PHASES
To begin, Vision Setting and Input Gathering engages stakeholders to identify past successes, current assets, and future aspirations. Through this effort, a clear and shared vision is established.
Next, Strategic Action Development focuses on prioritizing high-impact actions to be accomplished within 12–18 months. In doing so, the process ensures alignment and broad support.
Then, Implementation Framework translates priorities into concrete steps. At this stage, timelines, responsibilities, and accountability measures are clearly defined.
Finally, Progress Tracking maintains momentum through regular updates and monthly reporting. As a result, all parties remain informed and engaged as the strategic plan moves forward.
