BEI’s Summer Team Updates

This summer has been an exciting season for our team. We welcomed new employees, added a talented group of interns, and continued investing in professional development through our Leadership Development Program. These efforts help strengthen our team and support the communities we work alongside every day.

Welcoming New Team Members to BEI

This summer, BEI welcomed four professionals to our Spirit Lake office. Each team member brings unique experience, fresh perspectives, and a commitment to serving communities through thoughtful design and problem-solving.

Ashlee Silver – Architect

Ashlee joins BEI as an Architect in our Spirit Lake office. She graduated from Iowa State University and brings valuable design experience to our architecture team. Ashlee is passionate about creating spaces that positively impact communities. We are excited to welcome her to BEI.

Clay Silver – Intern Landscape Architect

Clay joins BEI as an Intern Landscape Architect. He is also a graduate of Iowa State University. Clay enjoys designing functional and attractive outdoor spaces that improve the way people live, work, and gather. His addition strengthens BEI’s landscape architecture services across the region.

Wyatt Hansen – Survey Technician

Wyatt joins our survey department as a Survey Technician. A graduate of Southeast Technical College, Wyatt brings enthusiasm and a strong foundation in surveying. As he begins his professional career, we look forward to seeing his contributions to the team.

Tate Hoyer – Survey Technician

Tate is a familiar face at BEI. Last year, he worked with our team as an intern. Following his graduation from Southeast Technical College, Tate has returned as a full-time Survey Technician. Because of his previous experience with BEI, he has transitioned smoothly into his new role. We are excited to continue supporting his professional growth.

Welcoming Summer Interns

In addition to our new hires, BEI welcomed eight summer interns. These students represent Iowa State University, the University of Northern Iowa, South Dakota State University, the University of Wyoming, and Southeast Technical College.

Throughout the summer, they are gaining hands-on experience in civil engineering, architecture, and construction administration. As a result, they can apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects while building valuable professional skills.

Developing Future Leaders

Professional growth remains a priority at BEI. Through our Leadership Development Program, employees participate in monthly sessions focused on leadership, communication, business, and community engagement.

So far in 2026, participants have explored several important topics. These include interdepartmental collaboration, company financials, a visit to the Iowa State Capitol, practical communication skills, and discussions with city administrators about local government leadership.

By investing in leadership development, we help employees grow both professionally and personally.

Looking Ahead

As summer continues, our team is looking forward to connecting with clients, community leaders, and industry partners during conference season.

This year, you can find BEI at events such as the Iowa Rural Water Association Conference, the School Administrators of Iowa Conference, and the Iowa League of Cities Conference. These events provide valuable opportunities to build relationships, learn from industry peers, and share ideas that benefit the communities we serve.

Whether through recruiting, internships, leadership development, or community engagement, BEI remains committed to investing in people. Strong teams build strong communities, and we are excited about what lies ahead.
