BEI Partners with ELC Community School District for Master Facilities Planning

Beck Engineering, Inc., has been contracted by Estherville Lincoln Central Schools for master facilities planning. Superintendent Aiddy Phomvisay recommended BEI to the Board of Directors on Monday night following a thorough review of other architectural and engineering firms. The process included formal presentations to a district-wide facilities planning committee comprised of 32 representatives of the district staff, students, administrators, board members, coaches and sponsors, parents, business and civic leaders, and Iowa Lakes Community College. “Beck Engineering, but in particular the strong connection with Brad and Teresa Beck, owners and alumni of ELC, really distinguished themselves amongst their competitors,” said Superintendent Phomvisay. “Further, the references and high-quality work in neighboring school districts and BEI’s focus on small district and local projects were also favorable to the committee.” Brad Beck, Founder and President of BEI, said, “We’re thrilled and grateful to be an organization with strong ties to ELC and want to give back in a significant way. This is one of those legacy projects for our company because of our history, relationships, and care for Estherville.” BEI offers architecture, civil engineering, landscape architecture and land surveying services. “We have been blessed to work on over 85 school projects over the years including several with ELC,” added Beck. The Beck’s have a strong foundation in the Estherville area. Brad Beck’s father, Kenny, graduated from Estherville High School in 1965 and mother, Laureen, graduated from Lincoln Central High School in 1968. Brad graduated from ELC in 1996 and Teresa graduated from ELC in 2001. BEI was founded in 2001 after Brad graduated from South Dakota State University. Teresa Beck, COO for BEI, added “Brad and I were both involved in athletics at ELC, which we believe helped to teach us how to be leaders today. We are both very grateful for the strong foundation we were given by growing up in Estherville.” The school district will work to capitalize on the staff and community's enthusiasm in the next phases of the project with visioning processes, workshops, and feasibility studies. This will propel ELC into a recommended plan for phased facility improvements as early as July 1, 2025. Meeting notifications and opportunities for the community to be involved will be presented to the public soon. “This is an exciting time for ELC. Facilities improvements and high-quality programs are part of our strategic growth plan. We want to partner with our community to build for the future and do it right for the development of ELC and the greater Estherville community,” Phomvisay concluded.
