- Iowa CDBG Commercial Facades – Assists communities with impactful downtown exterior improvement projects that eliminate blight conditions. Projects include primarily front and highly visible side facades of commercial or mixed-use buildings in a traditional downtown setting. All non-entitlement cities (under 50,000 population) are eligible to apply. For more information on Iowa CDBG Commercial Facades Program, click here. Applications are due by September 1, 2026.
- Iowa CDBG Pocket Parks – This annual competitive program assists communities in developing green spaces intended for recreational use that are accessible to individuals with disabilities. To meet the National Objective, the community must meet the Low-Moderate Income requirements using ACS data or conduct an Income Survey. - Iowa CDBG Water and Sewer Fund – Funds awarded through this annual competitive program assist cities and counties with projects such as sanitary sewer system improvements, water system improvements, water and wastewater treatment facility projects, storm sewer projects related to sanitary sewer system improvements, and rural water connections. - Iowa CDBG Community Facilities Fund – This annual competitive program offers grants to assist communities for a variety of projects, including day care facilities, senior centers, vocational workshops and other community service facilities. - Iowa CDBG Upper Story Rehabilitation Program – The Upper story housing conversion program assists in the conversion of existing downtown building space into new residential units. - Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning Program – Communities in need of transportation enhancement planning assistance and populations of fewer than 10,000 residents are eligible to participate in the Community Visioning Program. Thriving communities have volunteers, government representatives, and interest groups that collaborate to complete the visioning process. - Iowa Brownfield/Grayfield Redevelopment Tax Credit Program (IA) – This program assists with redevelopment aimed at improving Iowa’s economy while reducing environmental hazards. - Nebraska Environmental Trust (NET) – The Nebraska Environmental Trust is established to conserve, enhance and restore the natural environments of Nebraska. A prosperous future requires a sound natural environment. Successful grant applications will address one or more of the following categories: habitat, surface and ground water, waste management, air quality, or soil management. - Iowa Clean Water Loan Program (IA) – Created to give loans to water and wastewater projects. For more information on the Iowa Clean Water Loan Program, click here. Applications are due September 2, 2025.
- USDA Section 533 Housing Preservation Grant – Provides funding to eligible local governments and qualified non-profit organizations to support the repair and rehabilitation of housing for low-and-very low-income homeowners. - Iowa West Foundation (IA) – Community development, economic development, education, and human needs projects. For more information on the Iowa West Foundation, click here. Applications are due January 15, 2026, May 15, 2026, and September 15, 2026.
- Alliant Energy Foundation Community Grants Program – Alliant Energy and the Alliant Energy Foundation build stronger communities through investments in organizations and communities in Iowa. There are four areas of focus, including hunger and housing, workforce readiness, environmental stewardship, and community safety and engagement. - SPARK Leadership Grant – Provides targeted funding for rural communities to host soft-skills-based leadership training. Funded by Alliant Energy, the program aims to strengthen leadership capacity and collaboration across rural Iowa. For more information on the SPARK Leadership Grant, click here. - Iowa Arts Council Art Project Grant (Fall Round) – Provides financial incentives to Iowa artists, art educators, and qualifying organizations to support a wide variety of arts-related activities. - GIG Fund: Arts and Wellness – Midwestern organizations can request up to $15,000 to bring a professional artist into their community and host creative, engaging public activities. - Iowa Tourism Grant – Provides funding for tourism-related marketing initiatives, events, and meetings that support both local economies and the statewide tourism industry.
