This project focuses on the renovation and beautification of Terrace Park Family Beach and Alex Danbom Memorial Park, located along the south shore of West Okoboji Lake in West Okoboji, Iowa. Primary goals of the project include reoriented and expanded parking, and an improved pedestrian crossing between the park and beach. Proposed parking stalls are clearly delineated and angled, which provides additional stalls for this active summer attraction. An enhanced paver crosswalk, with landscaping and rapid flashing signs, provides a highly visible and safe crossing of Okoboji Boulevard.

Proposed improvements also include replacing an existing chain link fence with stone seatwall planters and split rail fencing, new trees, colorful landscaping, updated signage and restroom building, Kebony boardwalk, lighting, lawn spaces, shaded seating area, and small play structure.

This project is a collaboration between Imagine Iowa Great Lakes and the City of West Okoboji. Design is completed for the first phase of the project, and multiple grant opportunities are being explored. Construction is expected to commence in the fall of 2023, with completion in the spring of 2024.
